Former New York Governor Elliot Spitzer and his wife, Silda Wall Spitzer, announced their intention to divorce earlier this week. The announcement comes just days after the New York Post reported rumors of yet another cheating scandal between Spitzer and his former campaign spokesperson Lis Smith.
The couple released a joint statement, via their representatives, alerting the press to their impending divorce on Christmas Eve. According to previous reports, the two have been living in separate households for the past few months.
Former Governor Spitzer has been making headlines over the past couple of years, after the media reported numerous cheating and prostitution scandals between the politician and young women. Wall Spitzer vowed to stand by her husband throughout the scandals and media fire storms, however, it is now clear that the former corporate lawyer has decided to part ways with her estranged spouse.
The couple have four adult daughters together.
