Attorney Brian Perskin speaks about mediation as an alternative to costly legal proceedings to resolve divorce and custody matters.
I also do a fair amount of mediation and there is a benefit of two people coming into my office, sitting down, discussing all the issues, and mediating a fair agreement. When you mediate the agreement, you are going to be happy with the agreement, because you are going to be able to raise your concerns and when you hire me to do your mediation, and I have seen it all. I have been involved in many complicated divorce cases, I know how the judges are going to act and I know how the judges are going to rule and I will impart that advice to both of you in my office and when you come in we will go over what is fair, we will go over what is reasonable and we will leave with a mediated agreement. Then what I suggest, maybe you want to take that agreement to a separate attorney. Each of you get your own attorney and you will go over it, and what you will find is that the agreement that was worked out in my office is both fair and reasonable to both sides.
