Bethenny Frankel and Husband May Be the Next Celebrity Divorce

If you know who Bethenny Frankel is, you might be aware that she and her husband are reportedly heading toward divorce, like so many other celebrity couples. While nothing is official yet, the couple has been spotted meeting with divorce lawyers to begin the process in New York.

While this is certainly not the first celebrity marriage to fail within a few short years of the wedding, many fans have been shocked at how much has changed since the couple's reality show. Now it appears they cannot stand to be around each other. In fact, Bethenny has recently been romantically linked to her business partner who helped create the Skinnygirl margarita drink.

Bethenny and her husband Jason have been married for two years, and they have a toddler together. Unfortunately, child custody and child support issues will not be the only battles they face during their New York divorce. Together, they have quite a fortune, making for a complicated high net worth divorce case.

Bethenny reportedly makes more than her husband does, which means she stands to lose the most in divorce. Since the couple is filing in New York, which is an equitable distribution state, anything she brought into the marriage will remain hers. But anything she made during the marriage will likely be split with her husband.

She apparently made about $100 million when she sold her famous brand of drinks, Skinnygirl. She also made about $55 million in just one year. Plus, the couple now owns a $5 million NYC condo. They will now have to split these and other assets, which could drag out the divorce case. Of course, this is in addition to the child custody and child support issues the couple will likely battle out.

Since Bethenny is said to make much more than Jason, he will probably be offered spousal support after the divorce. This is common when one person makes a lot more than the other. There is no word yet on which of them will request custody of their child, or if they will work out a joint custody arrangement.

Though the possible infidelity committed by Bethenny will not factor in to the way their property is divided, it has reportedly angered her husband enough that he will supposedly try to take everything he possibly can during the divorce. This especially means Bethenny has a lot to lose. This kind of attitude is rather common among divorcing couples since the person who was cheated on is usually bitter and hoping to make his or her spouse regret the decision.

It was a wise move on both their parts to get lawyers before proceeding with the divorce. This is particularly crucial when you have a child, or even just a lot of assets to divide.
