 Edward A. Maron

Justice Edward A. Maron assumed his position in the Supreme Court of the State of New York, County of Nassau on January 1, 2009.  His Career as a jurist began in 1999 when he was elected to the District Court of the County of Nassau.  In 2005, he ran a successful re-election campaign and was soon after appointed to the position of Acting County Court Judge, where he remained until he was elected to the Supreme Court of the State of New York.

While sitting in the Nassau County District Court, Justice Maron served as Treasurer, Vice-President and President of the District Court Judge's Association, and as the President of the New York State District Court Judge's Association.

Justice Maron is a native of Brooklyn who graduated from Lafayette High School in 1957 and received his Bachelor of Arts from Yeshiva University in 1961.  In 1964, he received his Juris Doctorate from St. John's University and was admitted to the Bar of the State of New York that same year.

After graduating from St. John's University, Justice Maron began his legal career as a claims attorney for Allstate Insurance Company and later joined a Manhattan law firm until 1966 when he opened his own practice while at the same time establishing what would later become a successful sales and marketing furniture business.  During this same period he was appointed and served as an Arbitrator in the Civil Courts of the City of New York and District Court of Nassau County, and and Administrative Law Judge in the City of New York.

Among his many honors and awards, Justice Maron has received the "Hon. Edward J.
