Filing for Divorce in the East Side

Big changes have occurred in regard to New York divorce laws. Married couples can now file for divorce on a "no-fault" basis, something that was not allowed prior to October 14th, 2010. Instead of specifying grounds for divorce such as adultery, abandonment or imprisonment, or living separate for at least 1 year, either spouse can file for divorce based upon an oath that the relationship with their spouse has been irretrievably broken for at least 6 months. Instead of waiting a year while living under a separation agreement or falsely attesting to other grounds for divorce, married couples who have grown apart can file for divorce under this new option.

If you live or work in the East Side and are considering divorce under the new law or have other grounds to file, we can help. Our team understands the ins and outs of divorce in this state and can provide you with valuable insight into your particular case.
